Located within one of the younger Spanish designated Wine regions, DO Tierra de León, Gordonzello vineyards grow in a unique environment along Cea's riverbed.
These vineyards jealously keep a secret: the aromas, color, body, flavor... the essence of the terroir captured by its local grape: Prieto Picudo.
The terroir is characterized by low organic matter with abundant cobblestone surface that provides good aeration, drainage and root penetration. Mainly composed of clay loam to a lesser extend of fine sand, it retains moisture to make it available to the vines during the dry summers.
All vineyards are rain-fed and grow on low trellis (1.7m). The main varietals in Gordonzello are the DO Tierra de Leon natives: Prieto Picudo and Albarín, and to a lesser extent the reds: Tempranillo and Mencía and white: Verdejo. Varieties that give us excellent results to develop reds and rosés with personality and fresh and fruity whites, very suitable all for oak aging.

The winery Valdirnar project was born in the year 2000. It was led by David Cuellar who wanted to materialize his dream and passion: the creation of Valdirnal.
From the beginning, the principal objective has been to produce a high quality wine in small quantities. With the oenological help of Ignacio de Miguel, at first, and later of Isaac Fernández, production has been in place since the 2000 harvest season. The resulting wines are already well considered and prestigious.
The Valdirnal winery controls 25 hectares of vineyards in different areas around the town of Aranda de Duero in the province of Burgos (Spain). In this area, which is at the heart of the Appellation of Origin, is where we can find the best quality vineyards of the Ribera del Duero, as the wine is known. This is the best area to grow and develop the Tinta Fina grape, also known as Tempranillo.

Here, the poor and limestone terroir produces these natural wines that are also suitable for vegans.
